Fun Ice Cream Games

Ice cream and birthday parties go hand in hand. Add a fun ice cream game to your next birthday bash that will leave your guests laughing and begging for more. Buy the usual suspects, such as gallons of your favorite ice cream, plastic bowls, spoons and plenty of toppings.
  1. Guess the Flavor

    • This game lets you try different ice cream flavors and puts your knowledge of ice cream to the test. Select five or six flavors of ice cream, spoons for tasting, a blindfold and a tracking sheet to keep score.

Place a few scoops of ice cream in different bowls and mark the flavor on the bottom of the bowl. Line the bowls up on the table and ask your guests to line up.

Tell everyone which flavors you chose and that their job is to identify the different flavors. Blindfold each guest and have each one take a stab at identifying each bowl of ice cream. Award the guest a point for a correct guess. The person with the most correct answers wins the game.

    Ice Cream Sundae Relay

    • This game will get messy, so be ready with the clean-up crew after it's over. Set up two tables with identical ingredients for a traditional ice cream sundae on one side of the room. Create two sheets with specific step-by-step directions on how they should design their sundae.

Divide the group into two teams and have them line up on the other side of the room.
Each member has to run up to the ice cream sundae table and add one ingredient according to the directions that are sitting next to the ingredients. The team that finishes first wins the race.

    No-Hands Ice Cream Eating

    • Each guest has to eat an ice cream sundae with his hands behind his back. Create an elaborate ice cream sundae bar and ask each guest to make his own ice cream sundae. Avoid toppings that could cause choking, since kids will be racing to eat their ice cream. Select items such as sprinkles and whipped cream instead of nuts and gummy bears. Guests must wait until everyone makes their sundae before they can eat.

Once your guests are seated at the table, give everyone a bib and tell them that they can't use their hands to eat their sundae. The kids who made bigger sundaes will have more trouble getting theirs down versus the kids who went light on the toppings.

The object of the game is to eat your sundae as fast as you can with your hands behind your back. The first child who finishes his sundae wins the game---and maybe gets a tummy ache in the process.
