Hide and Seek
The 3M United Kingdom, the company that creates Opticlude, an orthoptic eye patch, has created an interactive game for children to play while undergoing their eye patch treatment. Children may play "Hide and Seek" to help the amblyopic eye work. The object is to help "Lili" and "Knut" find their friends outdoors. The child moves the mouse over the objects in the image, then clicks on the various characters when they pop on the screen. Each time the characters appear, the child earns a star. The child needs to act quickly, before the time runs out. The "Hide and Seek" game forces the child to locate the characters using one eye, which strengthens the vision in the weaker eye.
Matching Pair
"Matching Pair" is another interactive game offered at the 3M United Kingdom website that can help a child's weaker eye work hard. Click on the "Start" button to begin. The child touches the "Pair" button every time a pair of identical birds appears. Your child accumulates points for each correctly identified pair of matching birds. In addition, the child can track the sets of images left to match before the games stops. The "Matching Pair" game makes the child's weaker eye focus on the details of the various birds, which aids in improving the vision in that eye.
Touch the Bubbles
Visit lowvisionkids.com to play "Touch the Bubbles." Press "Start Game" to begin. Bubbles in an assortment of colors move across the screen quickly. The child places her cursor on the bubbles to burst them before the time runs out. She attempts to pop all of the bubbles she can see. The object is to burst as many bubbles as possible to reach a "hi-score." Children can play the games as many times as they want. The "Touching the Bubbles" game helps children with amblyopia focus on viewing objects with their weaker eye.
Patch Pals Games
"Patch Pals," located at patchparentzone.com, offers several vision games deisgned to help children improve their skills ar processing visual information. Games pertain to perception, tracking, focusing and eye teaming. For example, children may select the "Jumps" activity under "Tracking." A clown jumps across the screen.
