Kid Games to Play at Home

If you have the responsibility of keeping children entertained, whether you are the parent or the caregiver, there are many ways to accomplish your mission. By letting the children play classic games they will, for the most part, be entertaining themselves. This will lift your entertainment responsibility a little bit and leave you only with the responsibility of watching them to ensure that they are safe while playing their games.
  1. Outdoor Games

    • If you have a group of three or more children, playing games inside of the home can become quite unruly. By letting them run around and play games outside, their will be no limits on how loud they can get before getting on the adult's nerves. Some of the outdoor games that can be played are ballgames such as kickball, dodgeball, baseball and volleyball. If you are concerned about windows getting broken or children getting hurt, the safest game to play would be kickball. With kickball, you can use a soft ball instead of a hard one. Other outdoor games that the children can play are freeze tag, hide and seek, and jump rope. If the children want to spice up their game of jump rope to make it interesting and challenging, they can play a game of double Dutch.

    Indoor Games

    • If the children are inside of the home, understandably they may have to play games that allow them to be calmer and not as loud. Because of all of the items in your home that can be damaged or broken, playing with balls and running inside of the home will likely be off limits. Some of the games that the children can play inside are I Spy, Simon Says and House. They can also play board games such as Checkers, Monopoly, Candy Land and Scrabble. When choosing board games, be sure to check the label on the game's box to see what the age specifications are. If the game is outside of the child's age range, chances are that the game will not be fun or will not be understood by the child.

    Games for an "Only" Child

    • If you have a child who is an only child, you will have to be a little bit more creative to find games he can play alone. While many children who are loners are stuck on playing Nintendo games such as Super Mario and Sonic the Hedgehog, there are other games for them to play. By giving your child a piece of sidewalk chalk, she can go outside and draw a hopscotch pattern and go for a game of solo hopscotch. While the game may not be as fun as it would be if other children were around, it will definitely keep your child occupied and challenged for a while. A game of jacks is a game that the child can play alone that will allow him to practice his hand-and-eye coordination. Children can also play a game of marbles. There are many games that a child can play on the computer by visiting websites such as Playhouse Disney and The Kidz Page. Many of the games are age-specific and will offer hours of entertainment that can also be educational.
