Clown Bean Bag Toss
Paint a clown on a large piece of wood. Cut out a hole for the nose that's big enough for a big bag to go through and prop up the board. Draw lines 8 feet and 13 feet away from the board. Have children take turns tossing bean bags at the hold--younger kids can throw from the closer line, older kids from the farther. The first player to get 10 bean bags in the hole is the winner.
Bean Bag Basketball
Find a large plastic cup, a small bedroom or bathroom trash can and a laundry basket. Set them in a line from smallest to largest. Decide how many feet back you want the kids to stand to play the game and lay out a ruler to mark the line. Tell the children that if they cross the line their toss doesn't count. Each child gets to throw one bean bag at a time: a bag in the laundry basket is worth 1 point, in the trash can is 2 points and in the cup is 3 points. Play five rounds and add up all the points to determine the winner.
Educational Bean Bag Games
Cut some shapes, such as stars, ovals, squares and triangles, out of a variety of colored construction paper. Place the shapes all over the floor (or the grass, if you are playing outside) and call out one in particular for each child. His goal is to toss a bean bag onto the right shape. For example: "Red triangle." You might have three triangles, but only one is red. This game teaches the child both colors and shapes. If your child gets the bean bag on the red triangle, he gets a point. When he gets to 10 points, he wins.
