How to Make a Tetherball Set

Tetherball has long been a staple on elementary school playgrounds, but many kids and adults enjoy the game just as much at home. Making your own tetherball set is not very time consuming or difficult, and you need only a few items. Follow these steps and you can soon have a tetherball court up and running.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Choose an area of your yard with no nearby obstructions and dig a 2-foot-deep hole with the post hole digger.

    • 2

Drill two holes in the aluminum pole directly across from one another and 2 inches from the top. Pull the rope through both holes and tie a knot on one end so it can't slide through.

    • 3

Put the pole in the hole you dug in step 1 and pour the cement around it. Wrap the rope around the pole so it won't get stuck in the cement. Let the cement dry overnight.

    • 4

Once the cement is dry, string the rope through the top of the tetherball and tie it so that the ball hangs 3 to 4 inches from the ground. Cut off any excess rope.
