How to Build House Games

Children love playing house board games, and they also enjoy building their own house games using everyday materials. Let your children's creativity guide this activity. Helping children build a house game not only teaches them how to plan and design a game but also allows you to spend quality time with them.

Instructions

    • 1

Help your child decide on the rules of the game. In writing down the rules on a piece of paper, use a different color of pencil for each rule and number them to help everyone to see them clearly.

    • 2

Lay out the house game board. Place different colored Post-it notes in a trail on a large posterboard to serve as the path of the game. Draw designs on the posterboard to add interest to the game board.

    • 3

Cut out construction paper with scissors to create playing pieces and decorate them using colored pencils. Attach a ball of clay to the bottom of each playing piece and press it onto a hard surface to make the bottom of the playing piece flat.

    • 4

Make a pair of clay dice. Press two balls of clay into cube shapes. Using a toothpick, poke into each side of the dice a number of times. Each dice should display the numbers 1 through 6. You are now ready to play your home-built house game.
