Things You'll Need
Instructions
Select upbeat music to use in the dance game. Songs with a strong rhythm and beat work well for this game. Pick songs the children enjoy and that they can move to.
Gather the children together who will participate in the game. Explain that anytime the game leader asks the adult in charge of the music to play a certain song and says "Dance" everyone must move to the area designated for dancing and begin to dance. All participants will continue to dance until the game leader says "Stop."
Tell the game leader they may inform the adult in charge of music to switch songs whenever the game leader wants to. With certain songs, the game leader may also instruct the participants to "dance and sing."
Show the game leader that he may also use the words "Follow me" to tell game participants to make motions, like high stepping or clapping their hands to the music. Allow several different children to be game leader each time so they all eventually know how to lead the game.
Tell the children any time they are gathered together the dance game may take place. Once an adult picks a game leader, the game may begin at any time during a gathering.
