Instructions
Thoroughly clean an area around a sofa or a bed. This will give you the clean slate and space to start building your fort's walls. This will also teach your child how to clean up before building a fort can start.
Gather all of the couch pillows and cushions in a pile. Use the sturdiest pillows to make your wall extending out from your bed or couch. If your pillows are floppy, you can use chairs to give them some structure. Use the chair either way, facing out for pure structure, or you can face it in and use the seat for a shelf inside the fort.
Make a window. You can do this by putting smaller pillows in between your large wall cushions to make little window hatches.
Make a roof and a door. You can use large pillows and lay them east to west to make your fort's rooftop. If the roof is too big for your pillows, you can drape a sheet over the tops of the walls of your fort and pull the sheet tight. The door can either be a simple sheet draped over the door opening in your fort, or you can seal it with large pillows.
Put kids' chairs inside your fort if they'll fit. This makes it homey for their guests. You can also put a little lunch cooler in the fort so they can have a place to put the snacks and drinks.
