How to Play the Cow Car Game

This simple game helps pass the time in the car when you are on a long drive. It works best when played while driving on the highway or through the country. Yet, it can be adapted to work for city driving. Children can compete against each other. You could also divide up the entire passenger list. Make teams and get everyone involved.

Instructions

  Assign each team a side of the car. If there are an even number of team members on each side of the car, simply divide the car down the middle regarding both sides and team members.

  Select a scorekeeper. This person gets the pen and the notepad. His job is to keep track of the points per team. He should write the words "right" and "left" at the top of the page. He should also make a hash mark for each point that a team accumulates.

  Set a time period for play. It can be the duration of the trip, but this game works better if you play for thirty minutes or an hour at a time.

  Have each team look for cows on one side of the car. Each cow is worth one point. You can spice things up by making different colored cows worth more points. For example, black and white spotted cows might be worth more than solid color ones.

  Tally the points at the end of the period of play. The team with the most points is declared the winner. The winning team should get a prize such as choosing where you will stop for lunch or first pick in seating arrangments on the return trip.
