How to Play Koosh Ball Games

Designed in cool colors with an abundance of rubber "tentacles" to make them easy to toss and grab, Koosh balls are fun to play catch with and incorporate into several entertaining games. Consider the following ideas to keep the kids occupied on a rainy afternoon.

Instructions

    • 1

Buy an assortment of Koosh balls to organize games. (See Resources)

    • 2

Play "Hot Potato" using a Koosh ball as the potato to toss from player to player. Put someone in charge of turning a popular compact disc off and on. Whoever is holding the ball when the music stops is "out." Continue until one person is left.

    • 3

Gather 3 to 5 bowls, cups or baskets of different sizes and arrange them in a circle on a couch or the floor. Assign each "target" a point value based on its size. Give each player 5 Koosh balls to toss into the targets and determine a winner after tallying the total number of points each player receives.

    • 4

Divide the family members into two teams to hold a Koosh ball relay race. Have one player hold a ball between his knees as he runs to the wall and back, then hand the Koosh ball to the next player who must balance it on the bridge of his nose or a plastic spoon, for example.

    • 5

Organize a game of word tag. Stand in a circle, then name an animal or object found in the supermarket. Toss the Koosh ball to another player. She must name another animal or object that starts with the last letter of your word. A player is out if she can't come up with a word as soon as she catches the ball.

    • 6

Use a Koosh ball as you would a Hacky Sack, counting how many times in a row you can kick it before it hits the ground.
