Things You'll Need
Instructions
Use a small flat-head screwdriver to turn the silver bolt on the back of the Leapster to the left until it pops up. This will release the battery compartment, giving you access to the batteries.
Slide the battery compartment down once the bolt pops up. Do not pull up on it. It slides down and completely off of the Leapster LMax. Turn it over to reveal the batteries. The silver bolt will stay in place when you do this. It is not necessary to completely remove it.
Remove the dead batteries that are in it carefully. Make sure to dispose of them properly. At this time you can install the new "AA" batteries. Make sure when installing the new batteries that you line them up properly according to the positive and negative side of the battery.
Turn the compartment back over and, in the same manner you removed it, slide the compartment back onto the Leapster LMax from the bottom. The compartment cannot be forced on from the top.
Use your screwdriver to turn the silver bolt to the right until it clicks back into place. Turn over the Leapster LMax and power it on to verify that the new batteries are working properly. You can now return it to your child.
