How to Play Memory

Adults beware. Your children will probably be better at this game than you. Read on to learn how to play Memory.

  • A Memory game set
  • Two or more players

Instructions

    • 1

      Place all the pieces face down on the playing surface and shuffle them to get greater variation.

      Once shuffled, arrange them in a square grid. Usually this will be six-by-six or eight-by-eight. Make sure the pieces are face down.

      The first player flips over two pieces. If they are matching images on the other side, she removes the pieces from the playing surface and takes another turn. If they do not match, she simply turns them back over and her turn is over.

      The next player does the same thing. As more and more turns are taken, the players will begin to remember where the match to a piece may be, and they will acquire pieces faster and faster.

      Once all the pieces have been taken off the playing surface, the game is over and the player with the most pieces wins the game.
