Instructions

    • 1

Tie 2 yards of string at the end with a square knot, forming a large circle.

    • 2

Loop the circle behind the thumb and the little finger on each hand with three in the middle. Both hands should be parallel with the palms facing each other.

    • 3

Pull your hands apart so that the string is taut and set the string in place.

    • 4

Move your hands slightly closer together so that the string loosens a bit. Insert the right index finger under the string that covers the palm, below the middle three fingers on the left hand.

    • 5

Insert both index fingers and loop them around the string. Tighten by pulling the hands apart until the string is taut.

    • 6

Vary the cat's cradle by adding different colors of string together. Use a yard of red string and a yard of green, tied together with two square knots for a Christmas holiday cat's cradle. A spooky cat's cradle for Halloween could use orange and black string.
