How to Play Doors and Windows

The game of Doors and Windows (or Windows and Doors) has been played for years. This is a fast game in which you try to tag or trap the runner as they weave in and out of the doors and windows in a circle of kids. The more kids the better in this game. The following will show you how to play this lively, unique game of tag.

Instructions

    • 1

Ask all of the kids to form a large circle by holding hands. Spread out so that everyone's arms are straight out in the circle to form large spaces between each child. These spaces will be the windows and the doors.

    • 2

Pick one child to go first. Choose by playing chanting games such as Eenie Meenie Miney Moe or by asking all children to guess a number between one and 100.

    • 3

Instruct the child you have chosen to go in and out through the spaces between the children in the circle.

    • 4

Drop your arms down randomly as the child is weaving through the spaces if you are in the circle of children to try to tag or trap the child running through the doors and windows.

    • 5

Get the runner out of the game by touching or trapping them in the doors and windows. Once touched or trapped that person is out and must choose another child to take their place.

    • 6

Continue the game by running in and out of the doors and windows made by the children in the circle when you are chosen to be the runner.

    • 7

Win the game if you are among the last children remaining in the game at game's end.
