(Flag) Football
The most obvious game for a football-themed party is a game of football. However, playing football may be considered too dangerous. To increase the safety of the game, have the children tuck handkerchiefs into the back of their pants. The child is tackled when his flag is removed, eliminating real tackles and making the game safer.
Pin the Ball on the Player
In this variation of "Pin the Tail on the Donkey," each child is blindfolded and given a paper football with a piece of tape attached. The child must attempt to attach the football to the hand of a football player (on a poster attached to your wall). The first child to accomplish this feat is the winner.
Throwing Contest
In the throwing contest, the children take turns throwing a football. You can choose to make the contest one of accuracy or distance. In a distance contest, the child who can throw the football the farthest is the winner. In an accuracy contest, the child who can hit the specified target first is the winner.
Sign Making
Have the children make a sign they would proudly display at a football game. For this, you will only need several sheets of poster-board and various decorating tools, such as markers, glue, and glitter. If you wish, you can turn this game into a contest, in which the children pick their favorite signs.
Name-It Ball
In "Name-It Ball," you must give a football to one of the children and then give them a category, such as "breakfast cereals." The child with the ball must name a breakfast cereal, then toss the ball to another child, who must name a different breakfast cereal. If a child cannot name a breakfast cereal fast enough, he is eliminated. The last child standing is the winner.
Movies
There are a number of football-related movies that are appropriate for children, such as "Remember the Titans," "Rudy" and "Radio." These movies can be shown at a football-related party.
