Grab Bag
Use a grab bag when you have enough prizes for everyone. The suspense and excitement comes from not knowing what prize you're going to get. None of the prizes should be the same. You can have a variety of prizes of different values and sizes. This method works best with smaller numbers of prizes. Place all of the prizes in a large bag or box. Have everyone stand in a circle, close their eyes and take the first prize in the bag or box that they touch.
Number Marking
If your event allows for everyone to have his own chair, number marking can be an interesting and surprising way of picking a winner. Before your event, mark small stickers with different numbers and stick them under the chairs. Select the winning number prior to the event. When you're ready to hold your drawing, announce the winning number and have guests look under their chairs to see if they've won.
Musical Chairs
Musical chairs is a traditional party game that can help you select a prize winner. Arrange chairs in a circle to equal the number of guests, minus one chair. Play music on the radio or CD player and ask guests to walk around the circle. When you turn off the music, the guests must sit in a chair. The person who is left standing must remove a chair from the circle and stand on the side. The game continues in this way, with the last person standing removing a chair and standing to the side. The winner is the last person to grab the remaining seat.
Guessing Game
Have guests guess how many items there are in a container. For example, you can have a large jar of jelly beans and ask each guest to guess how many jelly beans are in the jar. The winner is the person who comes closest to the correct number.
