Tossing Games
Hang hula-hoops from a clothesline or tree outside. Write a point value on each hoop and mark a standing line about 10 feet from the hoops. Give each player five chances to toss a football through the hoops. The player who earns the highest amount of points wins the game. Or have the guests pair off, then give each pair a football. The pair who can toss the football the farthest without dropping it wins the game.
Obstacle Course
Create an obstacle course that players must run while carrying a football. Players can high-knee through the holes of a ladder, walk across a board balanced on two blocks, run around cones, crawl through cardboard boxes and bust through a cardboard wall to finish the course. Time each player; the player with the fastest time wins the race. Another idea is to set up two identical courses and have two players race at once. The first player through the course wins the race and a prize.
Paper Games
Make football bingo cards by filling the squares with words and phrases such as sack, tight end, quarterback, center, field goal, blocking, halftime, fourth down and yards. Give each player a bingo card and bingo markers. Call out the football words and have the players mark their cards. The first player to get a bingo and yell ̶0;I love football,̶1; wins the game. You can also write the words ̶0;football game̶1; on the top of several sheets of paper. Give one sheet to each player. Tell everyone they have two minutes to write down as many words as they can make using only the letters from the two words. The player who writes down the most words wins the game.
Relay Races
Divide the guests into two teams and have them line up at a starting line. Mark a finish line 20 feet from the starting line. Give the first player in each line a football. When you say ̶0;Race,̶1; the players must dribble the football to the finish line and run back to hand it off to the next player in line. The first team to finish the relay race wins the game. If younger children are playing, simply have them carry the football or toss the ball in the air while racing to the finish line.
