Turtle Themed Birthday Party Games

If your child finds turtles fascinating and intriguing, consider throwing him a turtle-themed party for his birthday. Aside from all the turtle-themed decorations, allow the guest of honor and his friends to participate in a variety of turtle games. Take traditional party games and put a twist on the games to give them a turtle theme the kids will enjoy. Awarding turtle toys and stickers to all game winners will entice the kids to play along.

Craft Contests
- Organize a few turtle crafts contests. Print pictures of turtles for the children to use as a guide and have them freehand a turtle on a sheet of paper. Alternatively, give the children green, yellow and black play-dough to try to sculpt a turtle. Award prizes for the best, funniest, silliest and scariest turtles. Another idea is to give the children smooth rocks or stones for your local craft store and allow them to paint the rock like a turtle.
Tossing Games
- Print or draw a picture of turtle̵7;s head with the mouth open on a large poster board. Tape the picture to the bottom of a cardboard box and cut out the mouth. Lean the box against a wall and have the children try to toss beanbags into the turtle̵7;s mouth. The child who makes the most beanbags in the turtle̵7;s mouth wins the game. You can also make turtle beanbags by drawing a turtle on green beanbags. Hang hula-hoops from trees and have the children try to toss the turtle beanbags through the hoops to earn points. The child with the most points wins the game.
Hunt Games
- Hide plastic toy turtles all over the party area. Toy turtles are available online and at most toy stores. Small turtle party favors are also available and you can use these to hide, too. Give each child a turtle party favor bag and have him hunt for the turtles. The child who finds the most wins the game. You can also draw a star on a couple of the turtles, and the children who find these also win a small prize. If you cannot find plastic turtles, print pictures of turtles to hide or hide plush turtles.
Races
- Create a turtle race game by dividing the children into two teams. Use cones to mark a starting line and finish line about 25 feet apart. When you say ̶0;Go,̶1; the first child in each team line must crawl to the finish line and back to tag the next player in line. Each player must crawl to the finish line and back. The first team to finish the turtle relay race wins the game. Alternatively, have the children race individually. The first child to crawl across the finish line wins the game.
