Games to Play at a Super Hero Birthday Party

If your child loves superheroes, it will come as no surprise when he wants to have a superhero-themed birthday party. Organize a variety of crime-fighting games your superhero and his friends will enjoy playing. Persuade the party-goers to participate in the games by awarding prizes like comic books and superhero figurines to all the winners.
  1. Villain Games

    • Print pictures of villains and tape the pictures to the front of laundry baskets. Write a point value on each basket and scatter the baskets on the floor. Mark a line and have the children toss beanbags from the line into the baskets to score points. The child who earns the most points wins the game. For an outdoor game, hang the villain pictures on a fence. Fill water balloons with colored water and allow the children to launch the balloons at the villains. The child who hits the most villains with the balloons wins the game.

    Hunt Games

    • Hide several superhero and villain pairs around the party area. Some examples include Batman and the Joker, Superman and Lex Luthor and Spiderman and the Green Goblin. Hide each character individually and have the children hunt for the character. The first child to bring you back a superhero and his villain wins a prize. Another idea is to call out a superhero name and have the children try to find his villain. Alternatively, call out the villain name for the children to find the superhero match.

    Obstacle Course

    • Create a superhero obstacle course for the children to complete. Children can climb through cardboard boxes, jump over boards, go through hula-hoops, pop a villain (a balloon), weave in and out of cones, bust through a cardboard box wall and jump rope. Have each child run the course and time each player. The player with the fastest time wins the race. If you have enough items to make two identical courses, make this a team game. Divide the players into two teams and the team who completes the course first wins the game.

    Contests

    • Give the children a variety of craft supplies to build their own superhero. They can work in teams or individually. The children can use cardboard boxes, poster board, aluminum foil, plastic wrap, markers, paint and chenille stems to create the superhero. Have them come up with a name for the superhero, too. Another idea is to have a superhero cape contest. Give each child a large square of fabric to create a cape. They can use puff paint, glitter pen and fabric markers to make a superhero cape. Award prizes in the contests for best, most creative and funniest superhero creations.
