How to Make a Skeeball Game

Skeeball is a classic and quintessential arcade game that has kept fans entertained for generations. Even though you rarely find the game outside of arcades and game parlors, anyone can duplicate this game at home with a few readily available materials. Duplicate the the major components of a skeeball machine and create a scoring system. This includes a ball for rolling, an inclined ramp and targets for the players to aim at.

Things You'll Need

  • Wooden sheet
  • Short platform
  • 5 plastic buckets
  • Permanent marker
  • Tennis balls

Instructions

    • 1

Prop up a sheet of wood against a short platform. Use any readily available item to use as a platform. Common items include a short, wide box or a low-standing table. The platform creates the incline for your homemade skeeball game. Do not use a tall platform; this creates a steep incline and skeeball machines have low inclines.

    • 2

Write down points on each of the five buckets with permanent marker. These buckets serve as the targets for the game and need to have a corresponding score. Use any scores you want, but make sure to have a high score and a low score.

    • 3

Place the buckets on the platform in the same pattern targets appear on traditional skeeball machines. This pattern has three targets centered with the middle of the ramp with the second highest-scoring bucket the farthest back and the lowest-scoring bucket closest to the ramp. Place the two highest-scoring buckets in the back corners of the platform since these are the two hardest targets to hit.

    • 4

Roll your tennis ball up the ramp as you typically do with traditional skeeball machines. Watch the movement of the ball to make sure the ramp has the proper incline. A low incline prevents the balls from hitting the buckets while a large incline reduces the ball's speed to quickly. Adjust the ramp and the platform accordingly.
