Ball Customization
As in real life, different size balls are better suited to different playing styles. "Silver Strike" allows you to customize your virtual ball. Go to "Equipment" and select "Rent a Ball." Choose from balls weighted between 12 and 16 pounds. You can keep up to five custom balls in your virtual bowling bag. Try out a variety of ball weights to explore what works best for you.
Hook Style
One of the game's alterable features is the hook style. Hook style influences the path of your ball. Select "even arc" (a smooth, even curve), "late break" (when the ball changes arc suddenly as it nears the pins), "hook" (in which the ball spins as it moves down the lane) and "early break hook." As with size, experiment with different hook styles to maximize your game.
Form
The crux of the game is the ball spinner in the center of the console. This is how you control the speed and direction of your ball. Two strokes---one back, one forward---determine the movement of the ball. For an extreme left or right curve, move the spinners both backwards and forward and either right or left. For a straighter throw, only angle the back or forward spin. The strength you apply to the spin translates into the power of the shot.
Other Cheats
Don't forget to customize your player. While most of the player details are merely cosmetic, you can choose whether to bowl left- or right-handed, which has a direct impact on the game. Use the slow-motion button to watch the bowl in reduced speed, providing you a better vantage point to study the ball's direction, curve and angle. Use the ball path diagram to guide your shots.
