How to Customize My Own Pin the Tail Game

Pin the tail on the donkey has been a favorite party game for generations and is suitable for any age group. The rules are simple and the pieces you need to play the game are easy to make. It's a group game where individuals are blind-folded, turned until slightly disoriented then expected to place a tail as close to the target -- the donkey's hind end -- as possible. The game pieces can even be customized to cater to a specific age group or party theme.

Things You'll Need

Poster board
Markers
Colored construction paper
Double-sided tape
Blindfold

Instructions

  Draw an animal of your choice on the poster board. A lot of animals have tails your friends can help them find. Lions, zebras and monkeys all have appendages and work well with a jungle-themed party. If you're not a great artist borrow a projector to get the image right. If you're particularly proud of your efforts have your poster laminated at your local print shop so you can use it over and over again.

  Create tails in various colors and assign each player a different color. That way when the game is over every one will instantly recognize who won the game.

  Substitute a clown face for the donkey and a big red nose for the tail. It's a more modern approach to a classic game. Use your imagination and put your own twist on the game according to what you know about the guest of honor.
