Treasure Hunt
A homemade treasure hunt is an interactive and exciting game that party-goers are sure to enjoy. First, make several clues and hide them around the party area, whether it is a house, backyard or park. Make sure that each clue leads to the next clue. The final clue should lead to a treasure chest filled with lots of little party favors. This is the "treasure" the party-goers have been searching for. To make the clues more authentic, use island vocabulary or even draw treasure maps to help the players find the next clue.
Castaway Relay
Gather all of the players and divide them into two teams. Have a pile of large sticks or firewood available in the center of the playing area. Tell the players that they are stranded on a desert island and that they have collected the wood over the last several weeks for fire. Then tell them that they have suddenly heard a plane overhead and have only a few minutes to spell out the word "HELP" using the firewood so that the plane will see it and rescue them. When you say "Go!" the teams must rush together to the pile of wood and work with their teammates to spell out "HELP" in large letters. The first team to finish is the winner.
Dress Like A Castaway
Get several pairs of old jeans and cut them into knee-length denim shorts with jagged hems. These will be the "castaway" pants. Next, get some old men's collared shirts and rip several holes in them. Place two buckets full of water at one end of the playing area and soak several pairs of jeans and shirts in each bucket. Divide the players into two teams. When you say "Go," the first player on each team will run to their designated bucket and grab a pair of pants and a shirt and put them on all the way (the shirt must be buttoned and the pants zipped). This will be very difficult because the clothes are soaking wet. When the first player finishes dressing, he must take the clothes off, put them back in the bucket, run back and tag the next player. The first team that finishes the race is the winner.
Musical Chairs
Buy several inflatable inner tubes and place them in a circle. Make a CD or a play list with island-themed music, such as a steel drum band. Have one inner tube for each player except one. Have the players walk around the circle of inner tubes as the music plays. When the music is stopped, all the players must find an inner tube to sit in. The player without one is out. Take away an inner tube after each round so that there is always one fewer than the number of players. Play until only one player remains. This is the winner.
