Breakfast Cooking Games for People Who Like Cooking

Take your games from the family room into the kitchen by adding playful competition to your breakfast preparations. Since it remains the most casual meal of the day, breakfast provides the perfect stage for your cooking games. Whether you are challenging yourself to a competitive game or including your friends and family members, breakfast cooking games start off your day with a smile.
  1. Breakfast Blitz

    • Split your guests into two teams. Unveil your secret ingredient and tell the teams they must create a breakfast starring the main ingredient in an innovative and tasty way. Depending on the size of your kitchen and the number of guests, teams can compete at the same time or take turns in the kitchen. They will have 60 minutes to make their meals and will be judged on flavor, appearance and originality. Some ideas for the secret main ingredient may be crepes, eggs, English muffins or bananas.

    Breakfast Themes

    • Choose a theme for the breakfast meal. Split your guests into two teams that will compete to create a breakfast that best displays the theme. The teams can use any ingredients in your pantry and should be provided with multiple amounts of breakfast meats, fruits, vegetables and grains. Advise the teams that the theme must also be apparent in their table setting and breakfast drinks. Allow the teams an hour to create their meal and set the table. The guests should be allowed access to rooms in your home from which to gather table decor. Some theme ideas include peanut butter meets jelly, meat and potatoes, country breakfast and elegant morning meal.

    Blindfold Assembly Line

    • Prior to game time, choose a recipe for the cooking game. A breakfast casserole, quiche or hash would provide the perfect recipe. Do not let any of your guests see the recipe. Split your guests into two teams. Blindfold all of the guests except for the team leaders of each team. The team leaders are the first chefs. Set the time for 10 minutes and allow the team leaders to see the recipe for the first time and quickly begin the meal. After their 10 minutes have elapsed they must be blindfolded again and stand to the side as the next teammate is given 10 minutes to further the cooking process. Keep giving each team member a turn until their meals are done. The first team to finish wins.

    Ingredient Guessing Game

    • This game provides a lot of fun in the kitchen. Depending on your number of guests, either split them into teams or let each person try his hand at creating pancakes, waffles or crepes without a recipe. Provide the competitors with all of the necessary ingredients to make your chosen breakfast item, but do not let them know how much of each ingredient to put in the bowl. Each team or person takes a turn mixing up their batter and are judged by the taste. Just in case this game does not turn out with an edible breakfast, make sure to have a breakfast ready for your guests after the game.
