Making the Ladders
Insert 18-inch-long pipes into all three openings on two T-couplings. In total, this requires six of the 18-inch pipes.
Place an elbow coupling on the end of each 18-inch pipe extending from a top of the T openings on the couplings, using four elbows in total. These are the side pieces of the base, with the uncapped pipe on each coupling forming the riser for the bottom rung.
Connect the two frames with a pair of 2-foot-long pipes, with the 2-foot pipes running between the elbow couplings on each side. The base frame is now a rectangle approximately 2 feet wide and 3 feet long, with 18-inch-long risers extending up on both sides.
Attach T-couplings to both sides of two 2-foot-long sections, with the pipes inserted into the bottom openings of the couplings. These are the bottom and middle scoring rungs.
Connect the two scoring rungs with a pair of 1-foot-long pipes between the open ends of the T-couplings. Each rung should have one side that still has open T-couplings.
Attach elbow couplings to both ends of a 2-foot-long section. This is the top scoring rung.
Connect the top rung to the openings on one of the joined rungs using a pair of 1-foot-long pipes. The scoring ladder is now completed, with three rungs spaced one foot apart from their neighboring rungs, and an opening left on both of the T-couplings attached to the bottom rung.
Attach the bottom rung to the 18-inch pipes extending from the base, inserting the pipes into the remaining open couplings.
Build a second ladder with the remaining pipes and couplings.
Making the Bolos
Drill through the center of each golf ball with a 1/4-inch bit.
Spray six of the balls one color of paint, and the other six balls the second color. Let the balls dry.
Tie a knot in the end of each nylon cord.
Thread a golf ball onto each cord, threading three balls of each color.
Tie a second knot in each cord. To hold the ball in place, press the knot snugly against the other side of the ball as you tighten the knot.
Thread a matching ball on each cord, then tie a knot in the end of each cord.
Slide the second ball on each cord snug against the third knot, then tie a final knot in the cord and press it snugly against the ball as you tighten. Each bolo now has two balls separated by approximately 18 inches, and the balls are held tightly at opposing ends of the cord.
