How to Knock Down Milk Bottles

Milk bottles have been stacked and knocked down for generations in the classic party and carnival game. Sometimes bottles are weighted to make it more difficult to knock them over, but you can set up a simple game where you throw or roll a ball to knock down rows or stacks of milk bottles for points. The game can be set up similar to bowling, where participants get points and a final score based on how many bottles are knocked down from their consecutive turns.

Instructions

    • 1

Stand at least 10 feet away from the stack or row of milk bottles, depending on where the boundary line has been established in the game. Get as close to the bottles as the rules allow.

    • 2

Place your dominant foot forward on the boundary line so that you are facing the bottles at a slight angle with your throwing arm slightly farther forward than the other side of your body. Balance your stance with equal weight on both feet so that you are steady when you prepare to throw.

    • 3

Use your dominant arm to bring the ball back behind and above your head. Bring your arm forward toward the bottles quickly and release the ball just before your hand breaks the plane of your body. Aim the ball at the center of the row or stack of milk bottles to ensure you knock over as many as possible in one throw.
