Hearts Scavenger Hunt
Create a scavenger hunt that uses simple hearts in salvation colors. Cut several paper hearts out of each of the salvation colors. Hang the hearts in various places around the church or party venue. Put some of the hearts in obvious places such as hanging on a wall in plain sight, but hide other hearts behind doors, under books and behind curtains. Have players try to find all the hearts within a given amount of time. The player who collects the most hearts wins the game.
Another way to play this game is to divide the group into teams and have each team look for a specific color heart. The team who collects the most hearts of their color is declared the winner.
T-shirt Scavenger Hunt
Plan a scavenger hunt that invites guests to hear the Gospel and have fun at the same time. Dress volunteers in T-shirts in salvation colors and have them hide in designated spots around the church or within a set boundary. Gather players together to solve a riddle as a group. The riddle will be a clue as to where to find the first volunteer who should be wearing the black T-shirt which represents "sin." Once the black shirt volunteer is found, have him give the players a brief lesson in sin and share a Scripture pertaining to his message. A possible Scripture to share is Romans 3:23 which says, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God."
The volunteer then hands the group the next clue which should lead them to the person in the red shirt. The game continues until all the volunteers have been found.
Another way to have a T-shirt scavenger hunt is to divide a large group into teams that represent each of the salvation colors. Each team must do a scavenger hunt through the Bible to find scriptures that pertain to their particular color. For instance, the red team might locate John 3:16 which tells us that Christ died to save us from our sins.
Objects Scavenger Hunt
Use objects in salvation colors in a scavenger hunt to help reinforce the salvation message. Collect objects that represent the same concept as the colors of salvation. For instance, find a cross to represent Christ's blood. Ideally the objects would be in the same color as the color of salvation concept they represent. For example, the objects could be a black heart to represent sin, a red cross for the blood of Christ, a white heart to represent purity, a green Bible or plant for growth and a purple gown or gold angel to show Heaven. Hide the items around the party venue and have the group work together or in smaller teams to locate the items.
Another way to conduct this scavenger hunt is to ask players to find objects that represent the same concept as the colors of salvation. For instance, a player might find a plant, a Bible or a growth chart to represent green and the growth of a Christian. Someone looking for something to represent Heaven may find a toy tiara, a picture of a castle or a gold ring.
Other Scanger Hunt Ideas Using Salvation Colors
Write a scripture that represents the same concept as each color on a piece of paper. Fold the paper in half and cover it with a piece of construction paper in the corresponding color so that it looks like a book. Hide the papers around the event venue and tell players they must find each color, open the "book" and write down the corresponding scripture reference. The first player to find all the colors and scriptures is declared the winner.
For a very young group of players, have them find any object in the colors of salvation. This makes it easier for each child to participate, no matter the age or skill level.
