Video Games
Girls are gamers too, so do not exclude video games as a sleepover game option. Choose video games that will allow girls to unleash their imaginations and get active. Nintendo's website Game Guide allows customers to browse a fleet of games for the Wii, DS and 3DS. You can search for games by favorite characters, system, keyword or age of the youngest player. From games based on their favorite shows and characters like "iCarly," "Glee" and the Disney princesses to games themed around their favorite hobbies such as singing, dancing, sports, painting and cooking, there is a video game to interest every type of girl.
Spooky Tag Game
You can transform tag into a terrifying thrill by playing Ghost in the Graveyard. One girl is selected as the ghost, who hides while the other players remain at a base or safe spot. Once the girls count to an established number, they seek out the ghost. When the ghost is found someone shouts, "Ghost in the graveyard," and the girls try to race back to base before the ghost can tag them. The first person tagged becomes the ghost during the next round of play.
Sleeping Bag Game
Challenge your girlfriends to a sleeping-bag obstacle course race around your living room. Divide your guests into two equal teams and instruct them to climb into their sleeping bags. PBS Kids' ZOOMgames suggests setting up cones for players to maneuver around, or if you are in short supply of traffic cones you may substitute stacks of pillows or beanbag chairs. Teams will race relay style around the cones either by hopping, as if in a sack race, or by wiggling across the floor using their elbows and hands.
Theatrical Movie Game
Instead of watching a movie and taking a boring trivia quiz, surprise your girlfriends with a theatrical movie game. Divide sleepover guests into evenly numbered teams and give them grab bags containing an envelope with the name of a popular film written inside, as well as five or more props, which the girls can use to act out a scene or themes from the film clue. Players may create dialogue and act with the props so that the other teams can guess the name of their film.
