Leadership
Everyone has an issue that gets their blood pumping. Many of us who feel passionate about certain subjects feel the need to mobilize others to affect change. When playing your game, have a light-hearted discussion about different leadership strategies. Notable topics include leading by example, using rhetoric to convince others to see things from your point of view and writing engaging articles for your community newspaper or organization's publication.
Work Ethics
No matter what your job is, everyone faces ethical decisions at work. This is why work ethics is a great discussion topic for a game. Everyone will have a story to tell. Discuss different conflicts of interests you have encountered at your job and how you managed to solve the issue. Alternatively, you could discuss your company's philosophy and how it compares and contrasts with your own philosophy. Try to keep the conversation focused on work ethics, as this topic can easily stray to other moral issues, which invites controversy.
Recycling
Recycling is a topic to which everyone will be able to contribute. Whether it's about the lack of recycling service in their community, the infrequency of their recycling pick-ups or the pros and cons of recycling, there is no dearth of conversation topics for this issue. You might also consider discussing the cost of recycling. This could include the cost of maintaining recycling trucks, the cost of paying employees and the cost of the recycling process itself, which is essentially a manufacturing process.
Waking Up
Many people think that they are the only ones who have trouble waking up in the morning. A quick survey of your friends and family will likely show you that this is not true. Everyone has trouble getting out of bed once in a while. When playing cards or a board game, consider discussing different strategies for getting out of bed in a timely manner. Talk about setting your clock ahead, different kinds of alarms and ways of getting to sleep earlier.
