Blue's Clues Scavenger Hunt Ideas

"Blue's Clues" is a children's program that features a light blue dog named "Blue" and her colorful friends. In each episode, the host tries to solve a simple mystery. Typically Blue is trying to tell him something. Blue leaves paw prints on three different items that are clues to what she is trying to convey. The host finds the paw prints and writes the clues in a notebook where, after he finds the third one, he endeavors to solve the mystery. The show is geared for preschool-aged children and teaches simple lessons such as colors and counting. A Blue's Clues scavenger hunt is a fun addition to a child's birthday party or just a fun way to spend an afternoon.
  1. Blue's Clues Sticker Scavenger Hunt

    • Blue's Clues stickers can be easily found at craft, party supply and toy stores. Put Blue's Clues stickers on index cards and hide the cards around the house. Make some of the cards easily visible and make some harder to find. If several children are playing at the same time, you may want to designate a particular kind of sticker or character for each guest. This will prevent one child from finding all the cards while others don't find any. For instance, one child can look for stickers that feature Blue while another can look for stickers that feature Periwinkle, Blue's friend.

    Blue's Clues Items Scavenger Hunt

    • Blue's Clues features some items that are present in almost every episode. Use similar things as scavenger hunt items. The host uses a notebook to collect the clues, he uses a crayon to write in it and he sits in a thinking chair. Add these items to the scavenger hunt list. You can also add common items such as buttons or a favorite book. Dog-related items such as a leash or collar are also good scavenger hunt items.

Blue's Clues Television Show Scavenger Hunt

    • Create a television scavenger hunt for a quiet activity for children. Preview a Blue's Clue episode before showing it to children to create a list of items to find in the TV show. Some items are present in all or most of the episodes, while other items will be episode-specific. If you have more than one child playing, create two separate lists so each child has equal chance of finding the items. Use pictures instead of words to show what items need to be located, because preschoolers aren't likely to know how to read.

    Blue's Clues Paws Scavenger Hunt

    • Blue leaves paw prints on objects that will serve as clues to what Blue is trying to say. Make paw prints out of blue paper to hang-up on walls around the house. Have a scavenger hunt and have participants look for the "clues." You can put the paw prints on objects that provide clues to an activity or prize. For instance, if the scavenger hunt is a birthday activity, put paw prints on a "Happy Birthday" banner, a refrigerator/freezer and a hutch that holds dishes. The three clues would be birthday, ice cream and a dish and the kids could then guess that they were going to eat birthday cake.
