How to Play Pictionary at Home

Pictionary is a fun and popular board game. Its appeal comes largely from the excitement it creates and the simplicity of its rules. Essentially, a person draws a card with a word on it and then draws the word onto the board. The rest of the person's team then tries to guess the word from the drawing. It is a great way to bring together a party or family game night. The game requires at least four players in order to create two teams.

Instructions

    • 1

Divide players into two teams with at least two people per side. Allow each team to roll the dice. The team with the higher roll will go first.

    • 2

Select the artist for each team. This is the person that draws first. The artist draws a card from the stack and has 5 seconds to study it before the round begins.

    • 3

      Start the 60-second timer.

    • 4

Draw a picture of the word on the card. No letters, numbers, or body gestures are allowed. The artist is the only one drawing at this time. The rest of the team studies the drawing and yells out answers to try to figure out what is on the card.

    • 5

Roll the dice if your team guess the answer correctly within the 60 second time limit. Move your piece forward the number of spaces that you rolled on the die.

    • 6

Select a new artist and repeat steps two thru five.

    • 7

Switch turns once the team cannot correctly guess what is on the card within 60 seconds. The first team to move their piece to the end of the board wins.
