Halloween Games for Eight-Year-Olds

Halloween games add excitement and fun to any party or gathering. When planning a Halloween party for eight-year-olds, you can include a few games for them to play. Most eight-year-old children love playing games, so incorporating Halloween games into the party is sure to be a big hit. Award the game winners with prizes like Halloween stickers and candy to keep the kids ready for more.
  1. Plastic Spider Games

    • Hide several plastic spiders around the party area and give each child a small loot bag. When you say, "Find those spiders," the children must find as many spiders as they can. The child who finds the most spiders wins the game. You can also hide a few different colored spiders and award prizes to the player who finds those, too. For another spider game, place plastic pumpkins on the ground and have the children try to toss the spiders into the pumpkins.

    Pumpkin Games

    • Give each player a small to medium-size pumpkin. Mark a starting line and have everyone line up on the line side-by-side. The players must roll their pumpkins as far as they can from the starting line with only one roll. The player who rolls the pumpkin the farthest distance from the starting line wins the game. You can also create a relay race with the pumpkins by dividing the players into two even teams. Have them line up at the starting line with their pumpkins. Mark another line about 15 feet away from the starting line. The players must roll the pumpkins to the other line and back to the starting line. The first team to finish the relay race wins the game.

    Paper Games

    • Make a sheet of scrambled Halloween words, such as trick-or-treat, candy, Happy Halloween, pumpkin, ghost, spiders and scary masks. Give each child a sheet of words and place it face down. When you say, "Go," the children can flip their sheets over and begin solving the scrambled words. The first player to unscramble all the Halloween words wins the game. For another game, place several Halloween items on a large tray. You can use items like rubber bats, plastic spiders, a miniature pumpkin, vampire teeth, skulls and a witch hat. Show the children the tray for one minute and then hide it. Give the children a sheet of paper. The child who remembers and writes down the most items from the tray wins the game.

    Witch Hat Games

    • Place several pointy witch hats on the ground and mark a standing line about 10 feet from the hats. Give each child five embroidery hoops or plastic rings to try to toss on the witch hats. Award prizes to children who ring a witch hat. If you cannot find any rings, make your own rings using duct tape and rope. You can also hide a witch hat somewhere around the party area and have the children hunt for the hat. The child who finds the witch hat wins a prize.
