Easy Christmas Games

Celebrating the Christmas holiday can include planning a festive party. If having a Christmas party is on your to-do list this year, several things will make your party better, such as seasonal decorations, good food and entertainment for your guests. Playing Christmas games is a way to create a fun, intimate party setting and keep your guests entertained.
  1. Gift Unwrapping Games

    • Many Christmas games involve several variations of unwrapping gifts. To play, you need a gift that has many layers of wrapping paper, making it a challenge to unwrap. One game involves a player trying to unwrap a gift after rolling the number three on a die. While he is doing that, players in the circle take turns rolling the die until someone else rolls a three. When this happens the player holding the gift must relinquish it to that person. Whoever unwraps the gift first gets to keep it. Another game consists of players sitting in a circle and passing a gift around while music is playing. When the music stops, the player holding the present must remove a layer of wrapping paper from the gift. Whoever removes the last sheet of wrapping paper keeps the gift.

    Bartering Games

    • Bartering games involve trading and negotiating for presents. The White Elephant game requires players to bring an unwanted gift from home. The gift can be something she received as a present but does not want, something that is outrageous and silly or something that most would consider aesthetically unappealing or without value. To start the game, each participant takes a gift from the table that is not her own. After a player opens her present she keeps it, or demands that another player trade with her. Another variation of this game is to have the players bring desirable presents and negotiate with others for the duration of the party, switching gifts among each other until every person has a gift she wants.

    Song Games

    • Song games consist of incorporating Christmas music. One song game involves players listening to various Christmas songs and naming the song title, as well as the the artist who sings it. Whenever a player correctly guesses a song's details, he gets one point. The player that has the most points is the winner and will receive a prize. Musical chairs is another song game that is usually played at birthday parties. For a variation, have players walk around a circle of chairs while Christmas music is playing. When the music stops, everyone must sit down. The player without a chair is out of the game. Each time a player leaves, a chair is removed. Whoever sits in the last chair left is the winner.

    Memory Games

    • The Christmas Memory Games require that players retain images or pieces of information. One memory game consists of players observing different Christmas items on a large tray. Each player must write down all the items she saw on the tray. Whoever recalls the most items is the winner. Another memory game involves each player stating her name and a fact about herself. The next player must repeat the previous player's information and then add her own. Whenever a player cannot remember the previous player's details, she is out of the game.
