Indian Corn Roll
Give all players a dried cob of Indian corn and have them line up along a starting line. Mark a finish line about 20 feet away. When you say, "Race," the players have to set the Indian corn on the ground and roll it with their nose to the finish line. Players cannot use their hands to roll the corn. The first player to cross the finish line wins the game. You can also divide players into teams and play this game as a relay race.
Pumpkin Relay
Divide the players into two teams and have each team stand in a single file. Each player should be facing the back of the player in front of him (except the first players in line). Give the first player in line a pumpkin. He must pass the pumpkin over his head to the next player in line. That player must pass the pumpkin through his legs to the next player in line. The players must continue over and under to each other. The first team to get the pumpkin all the way down their team line and back to the first player in line wins the game.
Turkey Toss
Scatter several plush turkeys on the ground and mark a standing line about 10 feet away (move the line closer for young kids and farther away for older kids). Give each player three wood embroidery hoops (large enough to fit around the turkeys). Players must use the hoops to toss onto the plush toy turkeys. If they ring a turkey, they win a prize. Another variation to this game is to substitute the turkeys for scarecrows or witch hats.
Trick or Treat
Cut pumpkins out of orange construction paper (one for each player). Write "trick" on all the pumpkins except one. Write "treat" on one pumpkin. On all the "trick" pumpkins write tricks like "Cackle like a witch," "Walk just like Frankenstein" and "Make your scariest face." Place the pumpkins face down and play Halloween music. The players must walk around the pumpkins while the music plays. When the music stops, have each player stand on a pumpkin. Tell them to look at their pumpkins. If they have the pumpkin that says, "treat," they get a prize. If they have a "trick" pumpkin, they have to do what the "trick" says.
