Easter
Have each family at the get-together line up at a starting line. Mark another line about 20 feet away. Give the first player on each team a wooden spoon and a hard-boiled Easter egg. Each family member must race to the other line and back with the egg on the wooden spoon. Some players may have to go twice to even out the teams. The first family to complete the relay race wins the game. For a variation, omit the wooden spoon, and have players roll the Easter egg on the ground using only their nose to the other line. Once players reach the other line, they can run back and hand the egg to the next family member in line.
Fourth of July
Play a game of red, white and blue with the entire group. Have everyone sit in a circle, and select one player to go first. That player must name an object that is red. The next player must name an object that is white, and the next player must name an object that is blue. Players only have five seconds to give an answer, and they cannot repeat answers. If a player says a repeated word or takes too long to answer, he is out of the game. The last player standing wins the game. You can also play with all adults and then with all children.
Thanksgiving
Create a memory game for Thanksgiving by having everyone sit in a circle. You can have a circle of adults and a circle for children, if you prefer. Select a player to go first, and have her say, "One thing I want at Thanksgiving dinner is _________." She could say a food item, such as turkey, dressing or cranberry sauce. If she says, "cranberry sauce," the next player in line must say, "One thing I want at Thanksgiving dinner is cranberry sauce and _______." That player must add another Thanksgiving food item. Each player must add her own Thanksgiving food item, but she cannot repeat an item. If a player repeats an item or cannot give an answer in five seconds, she is out of the game. The last player standing wins the game.
Christmas
Each family is a team, and each team needs a roll of green crepe streamer, ornaments, some construction paper, ornament hooks and tape. When you say, "Go," each family must select one member to be the "tree." They must use the given supplies to make their family member look like a Christmas tree. The teams have 20 minutes to complete the tree. After 20 minutes, award prizes to the best, funniest, silliest and worst Christmas tree. For a variation, omit the green streamer and ornaments. Give the teams toilet paper, and have them make a family member into a snowman.
