Yut
Yut is a board game played along the edges of the board. Each edge has seven spaces. The lower left corner space is designated "home," and is the location where everyone starts. Each player gets four mals, or pieces. These can be buttons, stones or even checkers. The object of the game is to be the first player to move all of his mals counterclockwise around the board and bring them back home. Movement is detemined by throwing four yut sticks into the air and letting them fall. They are rounded on one side and flat on the other. One flat side up, or "do," lets the player move 1 space. Two flat, or "gae," moves two spaces. Three flat, "gul," moves three. All flat, called "yut," moves four. All round, "mo," moves five. Throwing mo or yut gives an extra turn. Landing on a corner lets you move to the opposite corner. Landing on an opponent's mal means the opponent must start again and you get an extra turn. Landing on your own mal lets you move both mals together.
Four Field Kono
Four Field Kono is another traditional board game. The board consists of four horizontal lines crossing four vertical lines, giving 16 intersections. Each player has eight pieces, and places them in the eight intersections on his side of the board. Each player moves by jumping his one of his pieces over another and landing on one of the opponent's pieces. If no capture is possible, then that player can move a piece to any adjacent intersection. The winner is the player who captures all of his opponent's pieces first, or traps him so that he cannot move.
Five Field Kono
Five Field Kono has five vertical and horizontal lines. Each player has seven pieces, with five placed along the intersections of the edge closest to him. The remaining two are placed on the outermost intersections of the next row. When it is his turn, a player moves one of his pieces to an empty space. There is no jumping or capturing. The first player to occupy all of his opponent's starting spaces wins.
