Pre-School Birthday Games

When it comes to planning for a birthday party for preschoolers, create simple and easy games. Preschoolers do not have a long attention span, so planning a few games that are simple to do can keep them involved in playing longer. Awarding small prizes, such as stickers and small toys, to game participants will keep the preschoolers ready to play the next game.
  1. Race Car Game

    • Many young children find cars intriguing, so give each preschooler a car and have him practice rolling it on a hard surface. Mark a starting line and have all the children line up with their cars. Tell the preschoolers they have to push their cars as hard and fast as they can from the starting line (with only one push). The player with the car that travels the farthest from the starting line wins the game.

    Balloon Toss

    • Inflate several balloons (no helium) and have each preschooler select a partner. Tell them to stand facing each other about 3 feet apart. Have them hit the balloon back and forth. The two who can keep the balloon in the air the longest without it hitting the ground win the game. You can also play this game individually and award a prize to the player who can hit the balloon in the air the longest.

    Funny Faces

    • Have all the preschoolers sit in a circle and select one player to be "it." The "it" players must walk around the circle making funny faces at the other players. The players have to try to keep a straight face with no laughing or smiling. If "it" makes someone laugh or smile, he wins a prize. You can set a timer for one minute and tell the players they will have one minute to make someone in the circle laugh or smile.

    Prize Packages

    • Wrap toys, such as a ball, a puzzle, a car and a stuffed animal, in wrapping paper. Make sure you have enough packages for each preschooler to have one. Have the kids sit in a circle and hand each player a package. Tell the preschoolers to shake the items they have and try to guess what they are. Then have them pass the packages to the next player to do the same. After each preschooler has had each package, allow the players to open a package. They can keep what they have or trade with other players. Tell the preschoolers to see how many items they guessed correctly.
