Things You'll Need
Instructions
Assign the character roles to each of the eight party participants. Since An Affair to Remember is set on Halloween, each character is a comical version of popular Halloween monsters, such as a mummy, a kosher cannibal and a deadly yet beautiful dentist named Dr. Deth.
Decorate your home with a Halloween theme: cob webs, candles and other common decorations. Set the mood by playing eerie music.
Mail the invitations that come with the game. It is recommended to send these out two to three weeks in advance to ensure that every member is free on that date. Include the characters that they will be playing with the invitation. This way all of the participants can plan their costumes.
Read the character manual for the role that you are playing. This will give you enough time before the dinner party to get into character.
Prepare the dinner and refreshments beforehand. If you have trouble coming up with ideas, a list of suggested dishes (and costumes) comes with the game. Schedule designated break times and stick with them. But try not to break the mood of the party; keep the same Halloween ambiance during breaks so that your dinner guests don't lose interest.
Decorate your dinner table with a Halloween theme. Once your guests arrive, give them their designated name tags that come with the game.
Provide papers and pens for each party guest so that they can take down notes and organize their clues. Give the party 10 minutes to prepare their character and to get in the mood.
Instruct your party guests on how to play the game. Remember to keep character; do not address your guests by their real names but rather their character names. Encourage everyone to do the same.
Play the CD that contains all of the clues. Allow the party goers enough time to listen and record all of the clues spoken on the disc. One of the eight guests is the murderer; it is up to the other seven to figure out who it is. Although the guest who is the murderer knows in advance, he should act like any other party goer and attempt to gather clues. As they listen to the disc, place the map of the crime scene on the table for everyone to see.
