Bingo
Use bite-sized cookies as markers in a Cookie Monster bingo game. To make the game easier for younger kids, call out numbers from zero to 10 and alter the rules so that five marked spaces need not appear in a row. Verify that kids shouting "Bingo" have the called numbers on their card. As a variation, have kids play "Cookie Monster's Letter of the Day Bingo" game, either matching letters or words with pictures. Play until one kid has four cookie-covered spaces, either anywhere on the card or in a horizontal, vertical or diagonal row.
Cookie Decorating
Have kids decorate the best-looking birthday cookies that will make Cookie Monster drool. After baking, put blue frosting and candy decorations next to the cookies. Have kids decorate three cookies each, designing no two cookies the same. Judge the cookies' designs and award a small prize to the best-looking cookies. When the birthday celebration ends, have all kids take their cookies home with them.
Cookie Monster Toss
Party guests feed Cookie Monster in the birthday Cookie Monster Toss. Put a picture of Cookie Monster on the front of a bowl and have kids stand roughly 5 feet away from it. Kids take turns tossing three bean bags or toy cookies in the bowl. Distribute "Sesame Street" stickers to kids landing the most cookies in the bowl. As a variation, make a large cardboard Cookie Monster and cut out a large opening for his mouth. Have kids take turns tossing the cookies into the mouth.
Dunk The Cookie
Kids compete to dunk cookies in a large glass of milk in this Cookie Monster party game. Cut out a large round circle from white paper, tape it to a hula hoop and place the hoop on the floor; this will serve as the glass of milk. Cover several plastic lids with brown construction paper and tape dark brown construction paper chocolate chips on top. Have kids stand several feet away from the hoop and either one at a time or all together, toss the lids toward the hoop. Award small prizes to kids landing their cookies in the milk.
How Many Cookies?
Party guests guess the number of cookies in the jar in this Cookie Monster birthday activity. For kids in the early stages of counting, place 10 to 20 cookies in the jar. For older kids comfortable with counting, use more cookies. Count the number of cookies before placing them in the jar. Have kids write their guesses on a piece of paper, along with their name. Collect and sort through the guesses. The kid coming closest to the exact number of cookies wins the jar.
Pin The Cookie On Cookie Monster
Have kids put a Cookie Monster spin on the classic party game, Pin the Tail on the Donkey. For the target, use a picture or shirt showing Cookie Monster's mouth wide open. One at a time, have kids walk to the target -- while blindfolded -- and try sticking a paper cookie in Cookie Monster's mouth. Award small prizes to kids whose cookies come closest to Cookie Monster's mouth.
