Jungle Charades
Play a game of jungle charades to get your birthday celebration hopping. If you have multiple families, play by dividing sets of families into teams. Write down several jungle animals, such as tiger, lion, elephant, monkey, zebra and giraffe, on slips of paper and place them in a bowl. One player from team No. 1 must draw a name from the bowl. He has one minute to act out the animal to his teammates. If they guess the animal correctly in one minute, they earn a point. If not, play moves to the next team. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins.
Family Name Bingo
Create a family name bingo game. Print blank bingo grids and have everyone fill in their bingo cards with names of people at the party. Tell them they cannot repeat names on the card and the center space is a free space. Write down everyone's names on small slips of paper and place them in a bowl. Give everyone a bowl of bingo markers and start calling out names. The first player to get a row vertically, horizontally or diagonally wins the game.
Suit Relay Race
Gather two old leisure suits or purchase them from a thrift store. You will need pants, jacket, tie and a briefcase for each team. Divide everyone into two teams and have each team line up at a starting line. Mark a finish line about 20 feet away. Place a suit and briefcase in front of each team. When you say, "Go," the first player in each team line has to put on the suit and carry the briefcase to the finish line and back. The next family member in each line must do the same thing. The first team to complete the relay game wins the race.
Endurance Contests
Give each player a hula-hoop and have her practice. After five minutes of practicing, see which family member can keep the hula-hoop swinging the longest. Another endurance contest for families is the flamingo game. Have the players practice balancing on one leg. Then have a competition to see who can stand on one leg the longest.
