Fairy Freeze Tag
To play fairy freeze tag, girls dress up as fairies with tutus and flowers in their hair. The game requires two fairy wands to play. One player is appointed the "Freeze Fairy." She holds the wand that has magical freezing power. A second player holds the other wand, which has the power to unfreeze. This player is called the "Defrost Fairy." Players scatter around the play space as the Freeze Fairy chases them. When she tags them with her wand, they remain frozen in place. The Defrost Fairy can tag the frozen players to set them free. Once a player has been frozen for the third time, she must trade places with the Freeze Fairy. Play continues for a set amount of time or until all the players are frozen.
Dress-Up Race
Divide the girls into two teams to play dress-up race. Have them line up side by side at the start line. Set a suitcase or dressing trunk filled with a complete set of dress-up clothing at least 10 feet away from the starting line. At the start signal, the first player in each line races to the trunk and puts on all the clothes that are inside. She then races back to her team, removes all the items and hands them to the next player in line. This player puts all the clothes on at the start line and races to the trunk to take them off and put them back. She then tags the third player who must retrieve the items from the trunk, put them on and race back. Play continues in this manner until all team members have completed the dress-up relay. The first team to finish wins.
Ball Gown Scavenger Hunt
In this game of dress-up, players pretend to be princesses who must find the items they need to wear to the Royal Ball and get dressed before they run out of time. Hide all the items the girls will need to wear around the yard or play area. They'll have to search for a list of items they must collect before they can get dressed, including a gown; princess slippers; tiara; and jewelry items such as a necklace, bracelet and earrings. Inform the girls that they have a limited amount of time before the princess coach will depart and those who aren't ready when the clock strikes will have to miss their ride to the palace. Set a timer and send them on their hunt. It's best to allow enough time for all girls to find their items and get dressed since this game is really about the excitement of getting dressed up like a princess and not about winning and losing.
Pass the Purse
Pass the Purse is a game that works well when the girls are dressed up as fashionable ladies, such as they would be for a tea party, glamorous makeover, or Hollywood diva-themed party. Fill a fancy purse with items such as play jewelry (sparkly pieces made of rhinestones and colorful gems), bottles of nail polish, lip gloss and assorted makeup items. Have the girls form a circle and pass the purse from player to player while music plays. Each time the music stops, the player holding the purse opens it to retrieve an item from inside. That player leaves the game with her prize in hand. Play continues until each player selects a prize from the purse.
