Ideas for Fall Carnival Games

Plan a fall festival to celebrate the beautiful changing of the seasons. Whether you are hosting the festival at school, a community center or at your church, plan exciting carnival games to play that guests of all ages will love. A few inexpensive supplies and enthusiastic guests are all you need to get your fall party started.
  1. Candy Corn Ring Toss

    • Set up a ring toss game using empty 2-liter soda bottles. Paint the bottles white, orange and yellow to resemble candy corn. Scatter the upright bottles on the ground. Pour some play sand in the bottles to make them sturdy. Purchase wood embroidery hoops or make your own hoops using rope and duct tape. Mark a line about 6 feet from the bottles, adjusting the line depending on the ages of the players. Give each player 10 rings to toss at the bottles. If a player rings a bottle, he wins a prize.

    Pumpkin Seed Winners

    • Purchase a large bag of pumpkin seeds and place them in a bowl. Write the letter, "W," on several of the pumpkin seeds and place them back in the bowl. Cover the bowl with cloth or aluminum foil and seal it tight. Cut a small "X" in the top of the cloth or foil, large enough for the guests' hands. Each player has to reach in and pull out a pumpkin seed. Give her three tries and if she pulls out a pumpkin seed with the letter, "W," she wins a prize.

    Fall Prize Walk

    • Print several fall items, such as a pumpkin, candy corn, fall leaves, a turkey and Indian corn, on card stock. Number each picture and place the pictures in a circle on the ground. Write the same numbers on small slips of paper and place them in a bowl. Have players walk around the circle while music plays. When the music stops, each person must stand on a fall picture. Draw a number from the bowl and the player standing on that number wins a prize.

    Candy Corn Toss

    • Place metal pails on the ground and write a point value on each pail. Write lower point values for the pails near the front and higher point values on the pails farther away. Mark a standing line about 10 feet from the pails, adjusting it depending on the ages of the players. Give each player 10 pieces of candy corn to toss in the pails. Award prizes to the players who score a certain amount of points.
