Pot-of-Gold Beanbag Toss
Purchase a large plastic black pot and paint a rainbow on the front for decoration. Make gold beanbags using white socks, rubber bands and dry beans or uncooked rice. Spray-paint the socks with gold spray paint and allow them time to dry. Gold beanbags are also available online and at some craft stores. Mark a standing line about 10 ft. from the black pot and have players try to toss the "gold" into the pot. Adjust the standing line closer or farther away depending on the ages of the players.
Gold Nugget Hunt
Spray-paint several small rocks with gold spray paint and allow them to dry overnight. Hide the "gold nuggets" all over the party area. Give each player a favor bag and tell him to try to find as many nuggets as he can. The player who finds the most gold nuggets wins a prize. You can put a special mark on one "gold nugget," and the player who finds that rock also wins a prize.
Musical Gold Coins
Print or draw several gold coins on sheets of paper and scatter them around the floor of the party area. Place one fewer coin than you have players. While the music plays, the party guests have to walk around the gold coins. As soon as the music stops, players must jump on a gold coin. The player left not standing on a gold coin is out of the game, along with that coin. The last player left standing on a gold coin wins the game.
Pin the Gold
Draw a picture of a pirate or leprechaun on a large poster board and hang it on the wall. Draw the hand in an open position so players can try to place the gold in his hand. Print or draw several gold nuggets and write each player's name on a nugget. Place double-sided tape on the back of each gold nugget. Spin each player three times and tell her to try to pin the gold nugget in the pirate or leprechaun's hand. The player who pins it closest to his hand wins the game.
