What Games Do You Need to Throw a Teen Party?

Throwing a party for your teen takes a lot of creative planning. Entertainment is important to keep the party alive and fill the air with laughter. It is important to choose games that are appropriate for teens and a lot of fun. There are many games that can be played indoors or outdoors that are exciting and fun for a teen party.
  1. Broom Twist

    • Teens will get a big laugh out of this game. The broom twist game calls for a lot of space, making it best to play outdoors or in a gymnasium. One teen will pick up the broom and swing it around his head six times. Then he will stand the broom up with the broom bristles touching the ground. He will place each foot on each side of the wider part of the broom in order to try to stand on it. This is a difficult task and fun for teens to watch others do. The broom is passed around to each party member so everyone gets a chance.

    Balloon Truth or Dare

    • This game can be played inside or outside. Cut out strips of paper and write truth questions on half of them and dares on the other half. Place the truth papers in green balloons and the dares in red balloons. Blow up all of the balloons. Have each teen at the party take a balloon and sit on it until it pops. Then one at a time teens will read the truth or dare and either answer the question or fulfill the dare.

    Capture the Flag

    • This game is best played outdoors or in a gymnasium where there is a lot of space for running. Split the party into two teams of three or more players. Determine the territories of each team so both teams are clear what the boundaries are. Each team will use a bandanna as its "flag" and place it in the territory. Within each team there will be designated defenders and attackers. The defenders have the job of protecting the flag, and the attackers will try to steal the other team's flag without being tagged. If a player is tagged, he is placed in "jail" until another team member tags him. Whichever team manages to steal the other team's flag first wins the game.

    Fruitbasket Turnover

    • This game can be played indoors or outdoors. Set up one less chair than the number of teen participants. Have all of the players sit down except one player who will stand in the middle. The player in the middle will assign a different fruit name to the other players. He will then call out one of the fruit names three times and if the player with the fruit name does not say his fruit name once during the three times, then that player must give up his seat to the middle player. For example, if the middle player calls out "Apple, apple apple" and the player with the fruit name "Apple" does not say "Apple" once during this time, then he must give up his seat and become the new middle player. If the player answers "Apple" once, then the middle player continues being in the middle. The middle player has the option to call out "Turnover," and then all players need to get up and find another seat. Whichever player is without a seat becomes the new middle player. This game can be played until all players are too tired to play anymore.
