Trust Walk
Divide the children into two teams and have them select a team leader. Mark a starting line and have both teams line up. Place a blindfold on the first player in each team line. Tell the leaders they must guide their teammates using verbal directions to the finish line. Place two or three chairs in the path to the finish line, which should be about 20 feet away from the starting line. When you say, "Go," the team leaders have to guide their blindfolded teammate to the finish without hitting a chair. If they hit a chair at any time, they must go back to the starting line to start over. The opposing team's leader can give false directions to the other team to try to confuse them. Tell the children to listen to only their team leader and always follow his voice. The first team to get all its players across the finish line wins the game.
Bible Verse Memory
Write Bible verses on a dry erase or chalkboard and have the children study the verses throughout the class. During the party, take an eraser and erase some of the words from each of the verses. The children have to fill in the words that belong in each verse. Award a prize to each child who correctly fills in the blanks in the verse.
Fruit of the Spirit
The nine fruits of the spirit are love, joy, kindness, peace, longsuffering, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control and goodness. Purchase a piece of faux fruit at your local craft store to play the fruit of the spirit game. Have the children sit in a circle and hand one child the piece of fruit. Play music and have the children pass the fruit around the circle. When the music stops, the child holding the fruit must say the name of one of the nine fruits of the spirit. If he is correct, award him with a prize. Keep playing until everyone has a chance to name a fruit of the spirit.
Find the Verse
Give each child a Bible; select one child to find a verse in the Bible and read aloud. He has to tell the children what book the verse is in, such as the book of John or the book of Matthew. All the other children have to look through their Bibles and find the verse. The first player to find the correct verse in the Bible wins the game. The player who finds the verse gets to read aloud the next verse for children to find.
