Mad Hatter's Tea Party Games

A Mad Hatter's tea party-themed celebration can be a lot of fun for any age group, from young children to adults. The Mad Hatter was known for being silly and quirky, so make sure your party is, too. Encourage the guests to dress in costumes, make interesting tea party food and play fun Mad Hatter-themed party games.
  1. Pin the Tail on the Cat

    • Tape a large image of the Cheshire Cat on the wall and print out may small "grin" pictures. Blindfold each child in turn and ask them to try and pin the grin on the cat. Whoever gets the grin closest to the correct location wins the game and a prize.

    Musical Chairs

    • Make sure there is enough room for the guests to move around the table.

Set up chairs around the party table with one less than the number of guests. Start playing a silly song and have the guests walk around until you pause the music, when the guests must try to get a seat. Whoever is left standing is out of the game, and a chair is removed. The game continues until only one person is left. She is the winner.

    Chess or Checkers

    • Large chess sets can be purchased online or in some party stores.

Set up chess boards so pairs of guests can play against one another. If the guests can't play chess, they can play checkers with the chess pieces instead. Encourage the guests to make up their own rules. To make it even more crazy, use extra large game pieces and boards.

    Croquet

    • Set up an indoor croquet game with a varying number of rounds. Use lawn flamingos for mallets, stuffed hedgehogs for balls and large playing cards for the arches. Guests take turns hitting their hedgehogs one at a time, and whoever makes it through the whole course first gets the prize.

    Decorate the Cake

    • Have the guests decorate small cakes or cupcakes and compete for different prizes like, "Most Upside Down", "Most Pretty" or "Most Silly." Supply them with frosting and sprinkles or, to make it more fun, supply them with odd food items like cereal, fruit and candy. The catch is that they must eat whatever they make.
