Eye Witness
Tell the children you need a volunteer and take him to another room. Dress the volunteer up in funny clothes and give him random items. Some examples include a rolled up newspaper, a wig, a moustache and glasses. Give each child a piece of paper and a pencil. Tell the children there has been a robbery and the suspect should be coming through the area at any time. Have the volunteer walk through the room where the children are and walk out. The children have to write down an accurate description of the "suspect." The child with the most accurate list wins a prize.
Fishing Game
Take a large wooden dowel and tape a piece of long yarn to the end of it. Tie a clothespin on the end of the yarn. Hang a blue sheet in a door frame and leave a gap at the top of the sheet. An adult stands behind the sheet. Each child must toss the "fishing line" over the sheet to fish. The adult attaches a toy or piece of candy to the clothespin and pulls on the yarn to let the child know he has a "fish." Award one grand prize by attaching a piece of paper to the clothespin that says, "Grand Prize Winner." Award that player a large toy or board game.
Traveling Balloons
Give all the children a balloon (not inflated) and have them line up at a starting line. Tell the children they have two minutes to practice blowing up their balloon but not to tie it in a knot. When you say "blow," the children must blow up their balloon. Tell them to aim the balloon away from them and let it go. The child who has the balloon that travels the furthest distance wins a prize.
Marble Grab
Fill a small plastic swimming pool with water and several marbles. Have two children at a time take off their shoes and socks. The players stand in the pool. Place two bowls on each side of the pool (one for each player). When you say "Go," the players must use their feet and toes to try to grab the marbles. The players must put the marbles in their bowl. The player who has the most marbles in her bowl at the end of one minute wins the game.
