Fun Party Board Games

There is a certain type of game which works best for a party, and it is usually one which engages a lot of players in wild activities. Really great games often have hilarious results, and create memories among all of the partygoers. Sometimes, even a terrible game has some hilarious results.
  1. Word Association Games

    • In games like "The Big Taboo" and "Balderdash," you get to learn a little bit about how your friends' brains work, by testing the way they associate words. "The Big Taboo" is a board game version of a popular word game, where you have to help a friend guess a word, but without using certain keywords. In "Balderdash," you have to come up with definitions for unique and rare words, trying to pass them off as the real definitions to progress along the board.

    Games of Skill

    • Some people at a party can't resist showing off their prowess and other talents, and a game like "Jenga," and some of the activities in "Cranium," test these things. In "Jenga," you have a tower of blocks, and players take turns removing these blocks--the person who breaks the tower, loses. "Cranium" has a huge number of different activities in the game on cards, and a number of your different skills will be tested in this game.

    Trivia Games

    • When someone asks you a question which you may not know the answer to, there is a thrill in eventually coming to the right answer. A trivia game played for points gets a lot of people involved--and the more obscure the questions, the better. You can get these trivia questions from a website, or a board game like "Trivial Pursuit" or "Cranium." Even if you don't keep score, it's fun to test your friends' knowledge.

    Art and Acting Games

    • Whether you're a skilled artist or actor or, as is usually more entertaining to watch, if you're not, there are games which showcase those abilities. "Pictionary," "Guesstures" and some of the activities in "Cranium" are just the way to test these. The cards in "Cranium" cards make use of the other two games. "Pictionary" has players attempt to draw things based on cards or slips of paper, while other players attempt to guess what it is in order to move along the board. "Guesstures" is based on the game of Charades, in which players have to act out clues, for others to guess.
