Sand Pail Ball Toss
Scatter several sand pails on the floor and mark a standing line about 10 feet from the pails, adjusting the line depending on the ages of the children. Mark point values on the front of the pails using a black marker. Place the higher point value pails farther away from the standing line and lower value pails closer to the line. Give each kid five ping-pong balls to try to toss in the pails to earn points. Add up each child's score and the child with the highest score after five tosses wins the game.
Eliminated Chairs
Place enough chairs in a circle for each child to have one and have the children sit in the chairs. You start the game by stating a fact, such as "I do not have brown eyes" or "I am not wearing tennis shoes." If you say, "I do not have brown eyes," any child who does must switch chairs. While the children are switching, pull one of the chairs out of the circle. Tell the children they cannot switch chairs with the players directly on the right or left side of them. The child who does not find a chair is out of the game and calls out another fact. Each time the "it" player calls out a fact, you have to remove a chair and the player out is the new "it" player. The last player standing wins the game.
Ice Cream Cone Relay Race
Divide the kids into two teams and have them stand in a single file line. Give each child an ice cream cone. Place a bucket of water at the front of each team line and a glass at the end of each team line. When you say, "Go," the first player in line must fill his cone with water from the bucket and pour it into the cone of the teammate beside him. The teammates pass the water all the way down their team line. The last player in line pours the water into the glass. The first team to fill up their team glass with water wins the game.
Treasure Hunt
Create an indoor or outdoor treasure hunt for kids using plastic gold coins, real pennies or chocolate gold coins. Hide the coins all over the party area and give each child a small brown paper sack with her name on it. The children must find as many gold coins as they can. The player who finds the most gold coins wins a small prize. If you use chocolate or plastic coins, the children can keep them as a party favor.
