Dora the Explorer Games for Toddlers

Dora the Explorer is an animated television show geared toward toddlers. When planning a Dora the Explorer birthday party, use your imagination to create games that include the three main characters of the show. Dora, Boots and Swiper are the three main characters that go on explorations with Dora and help teach young children Spanish, as well as analytical thinking. Award small prizes to game winners to keep the toddlers interested in the party games.
  1. Pin the Backpack on Dora

    • Draw or print a picture of Dora on a large poster board. Draw a dotted line where her backpack should go. Print several pictures of a purple backpack and write each toddler's name on them. Put double-sided tape on the back of each backpack. Blindfold each toddler and spin her three times. Tell her to try to pin the backpack on Dora's back. The child who pins the backpack closest to the correct spot on Dora's back wins the game.

    Find Swiper

    • Swiper is the fox in the television show that is always swiping toys from Dora. Purchase a plush Swiper toy or use a plush toy fox. Hide the toy in the play area. Tell the toddlers they must find Swiper before he takes any items from Dora. The child who finds the plush toy can keep it for winning the game. If there are several children playing, hide a couple of plush toys so more children have a chance of winning.

    Backpack Guessing

    • Fill a purple backpack with several random items, such as a key, a rolled up piece of paper (to resemble Dora's map), an apple, a quarter, a hairbrush, a ball and a small plastic Dora toy. Blindfold each toddler and have him put his hand in the backpack to feel the items. He must try to guess what one of the items is in the backpack. If he guesses an item correctly, he wins a prize. Give each child at least two tries to guess an item.

    Musical Dora Game

    • Print several pictures of Dora's characters and items, such as Dora, her purple backpack, Boots, Swiper, the map, Tico, Benny, Isa and the Fiesta Trio. Write down these names on small slips of paper and put them in a bowl. Scatter the pictures all over the floor and play the Dora the Explorer theme song. Have the children walk around the pictures while the music plays. When the music stops, the children must stand on one of the Dora pictures. Draw a slip of paper from the bowl and the toddler standing on that picture wins a small prize.
